About a year later...

I promise to not turn this into an “I told you so” post.I came across this link in my travels about the interwebz last night and experienced a severe case of LULZ.
What’s important to know about this kind of thing is it isn’t a scandal. It’s not a big conspiracy. It shouldn’t even be newsworthy. What it is is simply the facts revealed to a dim public only just starting to wake up. This isn't a few workers operating off the reservation, either. It's modus operandi for this organization. If the “revelation” that ACORN is corrupt surprises you, then I have a bridge I can sell you. Half off.
I do have to give the Daily Show props for reporting this story, however the fact that it even seems like a huge conspiracy totally blows my fucking mind. How is it that I, someone who adamantly chooses to stay out of politics at the federal level unless completely provoked, knew that ACORN was a bunch of rotten assholes since the primaries last year?! Simple. It’s a pretty effective tool I use called the “bullshit meter”. Here’s how you can hone yours:
When everyone in your age group starts trumpeting one side of an argument, investigate the exact opposite. Try to defend it, even. In this case, it was looking into Obama’s buddies, which just so happened to help get him elected. It may not make you very popular, and it may not be immediately confirmed, but more often than not, you’ll be right. That way, when a “story” like this breaks, you can adopt your favorite Fox newscaster voice, cooly sit back, and go “I told you so, dumbass.”
...Damnit!
