A Musing...

Feel like I just had one of those "hit by lightning" moments, so here are my predictions for tomorrow's Keynote:- No Verizon-only iPhone. Sorry, it just doesn't work. No simultaneous voice and data on CDMA. Therein is the key factor that everybody's been ignoring. The new iPhone could be LTE-equipped or dual radio (GSM and CDMA), but it's highly doubtful. What's more likely is ...
- ...the end of AT&T exclusivity, by which they mean allowing people to unlock their iPhones from AT&T's network. Sure, it might be wishful thinking, given how the mobile telecommunication industry works, but the possibility is not only there, but in my opinion more likely than a CDMA handset.
- iPhone OS 4.0 only in demo form. Don't think it'll be released tomorrow. Maybe a point release (3.2). But it might be just shown tomorrow. Not enough buzz amongst developers.
- Regarding the tablet (total shot in the dark): What if it ended up being a screen and dock combination for your iphone 3GS or iPhone 4G? Some kind of processing offloading via the dock connector? Apps would be compiled for both the iPhone and iPhone + Tablet combo. This is purely a "wouldn't it be cool if..." scenario so I'm talking out of my ass on this one...but it would be nice not to have to pay out the kazoo for a bigger version of the iPhone.
End random thought process. Good luck tomorrow.
